After much hard work and many stops and starts together due to extremely difficult market  conditions, Energy Programs Consortium and Jeff Cole of myEnergyLoan have at last agreed to work together on the national roll-out of the Energy Star Mortgage program. 

Initially launched in two pilot states (Colorado and Maine), the Energy Star Mortgage program, a government sponsored program, grew to 18 states when myEnergyLoan brought HomeFirst Mortgage Corp. into the ESM program.  There has been demonstrable success with the ESM program and the “green light” was given to EPC to roll it out nationally this summer.

Energy Efficient Mortgage, 203K mortgage, EEM, EIM, Energy Star Mortgage

Last year the oil and gas industry had 780 lobbyists who spent nearly $170 million, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.”

If you gave me $884,000…and you had a major problem with an oil rig whose leak qualifies it as THE SINGLE WORST MAN-MADE DISASTER IN HISTORY…and I was President…you would expect me, at the very least, to remember that you gave me $884,000, wouldn’t you?

While the BP oil geyser pumps millions of gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico, President Barack Obama and members of Congress may have to answer for the millions in campaign contributions they’ve taken from the oil and gas giant over the years, according to the St. Petersburg Times.  At the very least, they are claiming deniability that the contributions were ever made.  Round and round and round it goes…(see previous blog).

BP and its employees have given more than $3.5 million to federal candidates over the past 20 years, with the largest chunk of their money going to Obama, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.  Donations come from a mix of employees and the company’s political action committees — $2.89 million flowed to campaigns from BP-related PACs and about $638,000 came from individuals.

On top of that, the oil giant has spent millions each year on lobbying — including $15.9 million last year alone — as it has tried to influence energy policy.   During his time in the Senate and while running for president, Obama received a total of $77,051 from the oil giant and is the top recipient of BP PAC and individual money over the past 20 years, according to financial disclosure records.  

An Obama spokesman rejected the notion that the president took big oil money.  

Once Again…today is opposite day…intent on spinning, each party has effectively cast doubt on the other, thereby perpetuating that whole Victim/Villain thing, creating even more distance and polarity among our population which typically believes it should take one side or the other; just like conservative media and liberal media tells them to – truth is both sides are co-opting and subjugating Joe the Plumber, Sally the Salon owner and Larry the Lawyer…the everyman is taking it between the eyes and will continue to until he takes self responsibility and loses tolerance for being led down the wrong road time and time again.  We are looking for friends in all the wrong places, folks…” – jeff cole

New White House UNOFFICIAL Group

I have started a new group for us…I joined the OFFICIAL White House Group last week and have found the group to be very engaged Americans who joined the group with the hopes of being heard and engaged by the White House.  I have polled this group several times and even made independent pushes to this group’s owner and have gotten no response whatsoever.  Along with about 300 other people in this OFFICIAL White House group, we have drawn the conclusion that we are all simply talking to ourselves in the official group, noting that it must be incredibly difficult for the White House to manage the level of intensity prevelant in some of the discussions.  Frankly, our discussions have been really, really good but we keep waiting for some sort of response from the White House…many members have told me that they have been members of the group for awhile and have also not seen any responses from the White House.

…since that’s case, we created the new Unofficial White House Group on LinkedIN…because, afterall…the White House is OUR house…and since we are only talking to ourselves in the official group anyway, we should do it without the veil and pretense that comes with airing our heartfelt opinions to a disengaged group manager.   We want our administration to hear us – we are hard working Americans from all walks of life and rather than being discouraged and torn apart, we can come together here and learn from one another and bring our work back to our communities where it can do the most good for our country.

Most bankers think that a green loan is a paperless loan…one where you close the loan using 100% electronic means.  That’s a step in the right direction; but in our world a green loan is a loan for energy efficient improvements…a loan that considers the positive impact made by energy efficient improvements AND rewards the client(s) in a uniform way.  A solid green loan would also carry a certificate of assurance that the lender authentically contributed the incentive at closing.
